Christina Milian has revealed that she wanted to be a cheerleader at school.
The singer-actress, who plays the lead cheerleader in Bring It On: Fight To The Finish, has done more cheers and fancy stunts on-screen than in real life, but admitted she wished it could have been different when she was younger.
“In high school, I wanted to be a cheerleader and I was ready to try out, but I didn’t get to because I decided to build on my acting and music career,” she said.
“What’s funny is that I’ve played a cheerleader now more often in movies than if I had ended up going into full-on cheer camp instead. It would have taken a lifetime of cheer lessons.”
Despite being a seasoned cheerleader on film, Christina said it’s still challenging.
“I’d like to say it is second nature to me, but it can be if it’s picked up again,” she explained.
The 27-year-old added: “It’s definitely a sport and it’s more athletic than expected. You have to be very clean, as far as the routines go, there’s a lot to memorise, and when it comes to working with the other cheerleaders, you definitely all want to be in the same rhythm, and have a good partner that’s going to be a good base for you.”
